First to take the stage were Maria Menounos and Derek Hough who danced the cha-cha. Len Goodman excused her performance since he admitted, “Nothing can prepare you for the first dance,” but added, “I thought you coped very, very well.” Bruno Tonioli advised her “to open up the sex pot,” while Carrie Ann Inaba called it “a strong, solid cha-cha.” The “Extra” co-host earned 21 out of 30.

Jack Wagner and Anna Trebunskaya came out next to dance the foxtrot. Despite the “poor” technique, Len said he could enjoy the performance. Bruno gushed, “Beautifully acted, beautifully danced,” and Carrie Ann chimed in, “You just took me to a happy place!” The “Bold and the Beautiful” actor got 23 points.

Partnered with Peta Murgatroyd, Donald Driver danced the cha-cha. Len thought the NFL champion lost time a little bit because he was too excited, but Bruno noted that he does have talent. The judges gave him 21 points.

Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff performed a romantic foxtrot which earned 20 points from the judges. Bruno said the “I Don’t Want to Be” singer stiffened at the wrong moments, prompting the musician to make a dirty joke. Len agreed with Bruno, while Carrie Ann thought that his arm was hyper extended.

Roshon Fegan and Chelsea Hightower’s cha-cha won the hearts of Bruno and Carrie Ann, with the latter calling it “the coolest spin I have seen in a cha-cha in all 14 seasons.” Len, however, criticized the lack in technique. The Sander Loyer of “Camp Rock” got 23 points.

Sherri Shepherd brought fun to the ballroom when dancing the foxtrot with Val Chmerkovskiy. “I could do with a bit of Sherri every day of the week… You’re light on your feet, your timing was good, and you light up the room!” Bruno said, while Carrie Ann added, “You are the happiest contestant we have had ever!” The co-host of “The View” earned 23 points.

Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were next to dance, performing the cha-cha. Carrie Ann admitted it “was a really difficult routine,” while Len said, “I thought you coped very well with a difficult dance.” Bruno added, “There is work to do, but I thought it was a very inspiring first performance.” The “Little House on the Prairie” actress got 20 points.

Dancing the cha-cha, William Levy and Cheryl Burke were dubbed “the hottest package of the season” by Bruno. Len also praised the Welsh opera singer as saying, “You performed it right on the edge, but you kept control.” She got 24 points.

Martina Navratilova and Tony Dovolani earned mixed reviews with their foxtrot. Len thought “it was a little bit too careful,” but Bruno said, “You really are stunning tonight!… I thought you were very elegant.” Carrie Ann, meanwhile, advised her to work on her turns. The tennis player earned 20 points.

Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas were one of the standouts that night with their foxtrot. “I tell you what, that was cracking!” Bruno stated, as Carrie Ann declared it the “best first dance… ever!” She got 26 points.

Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus almost made Carrie Ann want to get up and dance when they performed the cha-cha. Bruno commented, “The legend has got the moves! You are a star! A real one!”, while Len praised the “naturalness” in her dance. She earned 23 points.

Rounding up the performance night were Jaleel White and Kym Johnson who got another high score of 26 with their foxtrot. Len’s comment was, “I loved the routine. It had elegance, it had sophistication,” with Bruno gushing, “I thought I was watching the great Gregory Hines.”

The 12 pairs will return next week for another round of performance, before one of them is sent home on Tuesday, March 27.

Teri Hatcher’s was once in danger of losing her “Desperate Housewives” job. During the trial between Nicollette Sheridan and Marc Cherry on Thursday, March 8, it was revealed that Hatcher’s Susan Mayer was considered to be written out of the story back in 2008.

According to George Perkins, the show’s longtime line producer, Hatcher who is one of the leading ladies was under discussion to be let go due to money issue. James Denton’s Mike Delfino was considered to be written out in season 5 as well, but it’s Sheridan’s Edie Brit who eventually got the axe.

When continuing his testimony on Friday, March 9, Perkins claimed that Sheridan “is emotional at times.” On the actress suing creator Cherry over the incident on the set, he said, “I felt that emotion played a part…I felt that it was a misunderstanding between somebody trying to give a direction and the actor herself.”

Perkins previously stunned the courtroom when he revealed that Denton’s plumber character will be killed off in the upcoming March 11 episode. Waving goodbye to the show around two months from the series finale, the actor who has played Susan’s husband recently said, “Any other year, I would have been disappointed, but at this point I figured, well, we made it.”

Still, he admitted, “But as soon as he told me, it was a little bit like, ‘Oh, it’s a bummer because I won’t be around for the wrap.’ We’ve got such a great crew. We’re all such good friends. That’s kind of a drag because there’s six or seven episodes left.”

Don’t expect to see Michele Bachmann’s name on the cast line-up of “Dancing with the Stars” season 14 when ABC makes the official announcement at the end of this month. Following speculations of her participation in the show, the congresswoman has stated that she will not compete on the show.

021612 0710 MicheleBach1 Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain Shut Down Dancing with the Stars Rumors

“In full disclosure, I did win a polka dancing competition when I was in the tenth grade at my alma mater, Anoka High School in Anoka, Minn.,” she said in a statement. “But, despite my tenth grade polka success and my lifelong love of ballroom dancing, the recent rumors are false. I will not be joining ‘Dancing with the Stars’.”

Of her current goal, Bachmann explained, “My time and attention remains committed to creating more private sector jobs, and higher paying jobs, in the Sixth Congressional District. Serious issues face our nation. I’m continuing to push for cutting wasteful government spending, a successful conclusion to the decades-long St. Croix River Crossing Project in my district, and repealing the government takeover of health care.”

Prior to Bachmann, her fellow former Republican presidential candidate, Herman Cain, also nixed the idea of him appearing on “DWTS”. Lisa Reichert, an executive assistant for the Tea Party activist, reasoned, “He can’t dance in an eight-count. He can only dance in a nine-count.”

Other names emerging as possible contestants in the upcoming season of the dancing competition show include musician Gavin DeGraw and reality star Kyndra Mayo. Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow was also rumored to compete for the Mirror Ball trophy, but a representative for the football player has denied it as saying, “Tim does not have any interest in participating in the show.”

Gavin DeGraw might be one of the contestants in season 14 of “Dancing with the Stars“. Spilling the beans of the singer/songwriter’s possible participation in the ABC reality show was none other than his good friend Ryan Tedder.

“Gavin DeGraw is doing Dancing With the Stars, I heard,” the OneRepublic frontman said when met on the red carpet of Sunday, February 12′s Grammy Awards. The network, however, has not responded to a request for comment on DeGraw’s casting rumor.

Prior to Gavin, football player Tim Tebow and reality star Kyndra Mayo were mentioned as possible contestants in the next season of “DWTS”. A representative for the Denver Broncos quarterback, however, has denied the report as stating, “Tim does not have any interest in participating in the show. He is focused on preparing for the 2012 season with the Denver Broncos.”

Meanwhile, Kyndra’s sister Courtney revealed that the former cast member of “Laguna Beach” was approached, but she is currently listed as an alternate. “If someone turns the show down or drops out before the deadline, which I believe is February 28, Kyndra could possibly replace them. But if that doesn’t happen, she’s been told the show is very interested in her for next season,” so she explained.

The official cast line-up of “DWTS” season 14 is expected to be unveiled on “Good Morning America” on Tuesday, February 28.

After 10 weeks, “Dancing with the Stars” season 13 finally crowned its winner on Tuesday, November 22. Rob Kardashian led the scoreboard after Monday’s performance show, but there was still a long road for the three finalists before claiming the mirror ball trophy.

112311 0513 JRMartineza1 J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff Win Dancing with the Stars Season 13

On the second part of the finale, the remaining couples once again performed their favorite routine of the season. Ricki Lake and Derek Hough danced their tango which Len Goodman called “one of the memorable dances of this or any season.”

Rob and Cheryl Burke chose to perform their foxtrot. The brother of Kim Kardashian had a little slip, but Len said it “doesn’t mean anything” because, “You’ve got the best footwork of virtually any guy I’ve seen on this show ever.”

For their repeat dance, J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff opted to dance their jive. While there was too much Lindy Hop the first time they danced it, this time they reworked the routine to be more of a true jive. Len loved that they listened to his advice, saying, “You did exactly what I asked you to do. You took out the Lindy.”

Instead of scoring the dances individually, the judges decided together to determine the rank of the contestants’ repeat dances. Ricki was placed first and got 30 points, bringing her total point to 84. J.R. was ranked the second and got 28 points to make his total point to 82. Placing third, Rob earned 26 which made his total score to 83.

These scores were combined with the viewer votes and it was soon revealed that Ricki was placed third. “I’ve loved basically every minute of this. I really feel like I’ve had the best partner, the best teacher, the best motivator,” the “Hairspray” star said on her farewell speech.

“I’ve done something that I really didn’t think I could do. And for someone who’s a middle age mom I hope I’ve made my children proud… This is fantasy come true,” she added. Her partner Derek, meanwhile, praised her, “She’s an absolute winner. She’s just knocked it out of the ballpark.”

Still competing for the first place, J.R. and Rob along with their own partner danced an instant samba which would be evaluated by the judges. Both these two celebrity contestants got a perfect score of 30 each. With the scores from the final dance being added to their accumulative points, Rob still led by one point over J.R.

Viewers, however, gave more votes to J.R. and Karina as the couple was announced the winner of this season. “First and foremost I want to thank everybody who voted for us for 10 weeks. Thank you, America for believing in us,” said the army veteran, before crediting his partner, “You are amazing. I’m so grateful that I was able to be part of your first mirror ball trophy. Thank you very much.”

Rob, who finished in the second place, was not upset with the result as he said, “We’re super thankful… I’m definitely not sad. I won in my book.” Cheryl, meanwhile, claimed that they would keep in touch after ending the gig, “We’re going to stay friends forever… In my book, you’ve won.”

The Tuesday finale also welcomed the eliminated celebrity contestants to the dance floor again. Lady Antebellum served as a musical guest, performing “Dancing Away with my Heart” while being accompanied by some pro dancers.

Rob Kardashian might have saved his best for the last. After surprisingly securing a spot in the final three of “Dancing with the Stars” season 13, the reality star makes the competition to win the mirror ball trophy even stiffer as he emerged as a current leader on the scoreboard after the final performance show.

112211 0816 DWTSRecapR1 DWTS Recap: Rob Kardashian Soars to the Top on Final Performance Show

Rob got his first perfect score (30) of this season on Monday, November 21 through his freestyle. Judge Bruno Tonioli commented, “I tell you, timing in life is everything – you peaked at the right time.” His first dance that night, waltz, also impressed the judges although Bruno noted that he “messed up some of the footwork.” He got 27 for the waltz.

The other two finalists, J.R. Martinez and Ricki Lake, were tied with 54. The army veteran only got 24 from his cha cha which judge Len Goodman thought “wasn’t that good.” He, however, covered it up with his intense, salsa-inspired freestyle that put him back in the game. Len gushed that it was “fantastic” and the judges gave the actor a perfect score.

Ricki, meanwhile, delivered an “action-packed performance” with her cha cha. “Tonight, you were definitely living the dance,” Carrie Ann Inaba praised the actress. Ricki’s freestyle was deemed “entertaining” although Len pointed out that she “lost it a little bit in the quickstep section”. She earned 27 each for her first and second dance.

The winner of this season’s “Dancing with the Stars” will be announced on Tuesday, November 22 based on combination of the judge scores and viewer votes. Lady Antebellum will take the stage to perform for the audience.
